Four Paws provide sanctuary for bears rescued from the bile farming trade. Despite being illegal in Vietnam, Four Paws estimate there are approximately 800 bears \u2013 mainly Asiatic Black Bears \u2013 in captivity in more than 250 bear farms in Vietnam. The Sanctuary boosts government efforts to enforce the existing laws that prohibit the abuse of bears for bile extraction by providing a place for bears \u2013 whether confiscated or voluntarily given up by their owners \u2013 to find a haven where they will be cared for properly. To date, the sanctuary offers a home to 23 bears. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
